-Subsidiary Rih Ding Investment Holdings plans to raise cash capital by NT$ 897 million

Listed company Radium (2547 TW) announces the expansion of its circular economy business.  Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Rih Ding Circular Economy Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., plans to issue 9,380 thousand new shares with a par value of NT$10 per share. These shares will be issued at a premium, based on Rih Ding Investment Holdings’ net value of NT$95.66 per share as of March 31, 2024, resulting in a total capital increase of NT$897,290,000, all subscribed by Radium. Upon completion, Rih-Ding Investment Holdings’ paid-in capital will rise to NT$876 million, with a total of 87,600 thousand shares issued.

Radium, along with its subsidiaries Rih-Ding Water and Bao Ding Reclaimed Water, is constructing the sewerage recycling system and reclaimed water system of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan, the total investment will exceed NT$14.5 billion. According to the Taoyuan City Government Water Affairs Bureau, by 2023, there were 232,900 households connected to the public sewer system, making Taoyuan’s public sewer system coverage rate to 25.84%.  Rih Ding Water has connected 144,000 households, contributing to 61.2% of the total connections in Taoyuan. Since 2016, Rih Ding Water has partnered with the Taoyuan City Government to promote household connections and alleyway environmental renovation projects. This initiative, which integrates Taoyuan’s cultural characteristics and citizen creativity, has transformed nearly 200 alleyways, creating a "Back Alley Light City" in Taoyuan.

Radium commits its vision of “a green enterprise determined to uphold sustainability” and expands its investment in recycling water resources

Recycled and reclaimed water technology is rapidly developing worldwide and has become a crucial solution to water resource shortages. Not only does it alleviate the pressure of water scarcity, but it also reduces dependence on natural water sources. The sewerage recycling and treating system in Taoyuan City is a prime example. According to the annual water use report of the Water Resources Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taoyuan City’s annual domestic water consumption is approximately 296.93 million tons, industrial water consumption is 226.74 million tons, and agricultural water consumption is 364.96 million tons. The total annual water consumption in Taoyuan City reaches 888.63 million tons. Therefore, the tight water conditions in Shimen Reservoir in April this year not only affected agricultural water use, but also almost affected the process operations of the technology industry.

Through its 35-year BOT project for the Taoyuan sewerage system, Rih Ding Water is now able to treat 100,000 tons of sewage a day (i.e. 36.5 million tons annually), and capable to generate 31,000 tons (i.e. 11.313 million tons annually) of high quality reusable water daily with technologies of BioNET and MBR filtration, accounting for 15.5% of Taoyuan’s reusable effluent. This treated water can be applying for industrial and agricultural purposes, significantly improving water resource utilization efficiency. This model of water resource recycling not only conserves water but also reduces energy consumption, playing a crucial role in environmental protection.

Rih Ding Water has launched the third phase of Taoyuan water resource center expansion, expected to complete the construction by end of 2025.Radium’s expansion of its circular economy business and strengthening of water resource management demonstrates its commitment to " a green enterprise determined to uphold sustainability." With the further development of reclaimed water technology, Radium's promotion of Taiwan's water resource management will become more efficient in the future, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable economic development.
