Radium (2547TW) announces that its subsidiary Bao Ding Reclaimed Water has officially launched the first phase of the reclaimed water BTO (Build, Transfer, Operate) project at the Taoyuan North District Water Resource Recycling Center. With a total of 18,000 CMD (M³/day)of reclaimed water to provide industries daily starting from October 2024, 8,000 CMD of reclaimed water is supplying Nanya Plastics daily from this September, and another 10,000 CMD to supply CPC Taoyuan Refinery daily in October. The system is expected to deliver 40,000 CMD of water daily by mid-2025, covering Guanyin Industrial Zone and neighboring factories, constructing 29.92 kilometers of pipelines. The whole project aims to supply 110,000 CMD of reclaimed water daily, extending the water supply system to the Aerotropolis Industrial Zone and Dayuan Industrial Park.
So far Radium and its subsidiaries, Rih Ding Water and Bao Ding Reclaimed Water, are building a comprehensive water resource recycling system in Taoyuan, with a total investment exceeding NT$14.5 billion. The said BTO project was publicly tendered by the Taoyuan City Government in 2022, responding to the Ministry of the Interior’s National Land Management Agency’s "Public Sewage Treatment Plant Reclaimed Water Promotion Plan," aiming to supply 285,000 CMD of reclaimed water daily across Taiwan by the end of 2026. The successful water supply by Bao Ding Reclaimed Water not only continues Radium's efforts in sewage recycling and water quality improvement in Taoyuan City but also robustly supports the Taoyuan City Government's policies on promoting reclaimed water sources and enhancing the stability of industrial water supply.
Considering reclaimed water projects require sewage treatment centers with good technology to do preparatory work, according to the information of Taoyuan Water Bureau, there are a total of 11 sewage treatment centers in Taoyuan, including Taoyuan North District, Guishan, Daxi, Wenqing Water Park, Luofu, Yisheng , Fuxing, Sanmin, Shimen, Yangmei and Puding. Among them, the Taoyuan North District Water Resources Recycling Center operated by Rih Ding Water, has achieved success in treating and recycling water quality. In addition to obtaining environmental education facility site certification, it also cooperates with Bao Ding Reclaimed Water to achieve this BTO project target ahead of schedule. Based on the Taoyuan City Government, the project is planning 110,000 CMD of reclaimed water per day throughout the entire period, making it the first and largest reclaimed water system in northern Taiwan. Besides that, the Taoyuan City Water Affairs Bureau is planning to build the Zhongli reclaimed water plant in four phases, with initial 30,000 CMD of reclaimed water and 80,000 CMD daily throughout the full phase. It will be connected with the BTO system managed by Bao Ding to form a reclaimed water supply pipe network able to provide Taoyuan Coastal Industrial Park and Aviation City Industrial Zone, significantly raise the economic benefits of reclaimed water.
Bao Ding Reclaimed Water extends the water recycling and treatment technology of Rih Ding Water, integrating MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) systems, BioNET bioweb membranes, combined with pretreatment, ultrafiltration (UF), and reverse osmosis (RO) dual-protection technologies to achieve a complete system of recycled wastewater processed into usable reclaimed water resources. Additionally, it has introduced a water quality warning system, enhanced discharge monitoring, energy recovery, and AI intelligent systems, which are expected to save more than 10% of energy.
