Radium (2547TW) subsidiary Bao Ding Reclaimed Water
to sign contracts of around NT$960 million
for electrical and mechanical engineering of “Reclaimed Water BTO Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan”
The Board of Directors of Bao Ding Reclaimed Water, a subsidiary of Radium (2547 TW), has approved a resolution to contract the electrical and mechanical engineering of water treatment facilities related to the construction of "Reclaimed Water BTO Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan." The total contract amount will be around NT$ 960 million.
To cope with extreme weather conditions leading to water shortages, Taoyuan has been actively building sewage treatment and recycling systems in recent years. At present, Taoyuan City Government and Rih Ding Water, a subsidiary of Radium, cooperate in building Taoyuan North District Water Resource Recovery System, which has reached 127,000 households by end of 2022. Following this, Radium invested in the infrastructure of reclaimed water projects through its 70% owned subsidiary, Bao Ding Reclaimed Water, to manage the "Reclaimed Water BTO Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan." Radium integrates Rih Ding Water's sewage treatment and recycling technology to further strengthen water source management and ensure stability of recycled water volume and water quality. At the same time, AI intelligent simulation prediction and automatic control are applied, and the Industry 4.0 Internet of Things (IoT) is introduced to analyze and monitor information from multiple perspectives. Using the smart power supply system to reduce carbon emissions, the energy saving effect is expected to exceed 10%. This will create the first fully automated controlled smart reclaimed water plant in Taiwan.
Taoyuan is an important metropolitan area in northern Taiwan and one of the major drivers of reclaimed water development in recent years. In the future, Taoyuan plans to have 3 reclaimed water plants, located in Taoyuan North District, A7 Station and South District Water Resource Center. According to the plan of Water Resources Agency, 11 reclaimed water plants will be completed in Taiwan by 2028, including Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. When all constructions are completed, the reclaimed water plants in Taiwan will be able to supply 300,000 tons of reclaimed water per day. “Reclaimed Water BTO Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan” will build the first reclaimed water plant in northern Taiwan. The project is planned with three phases and is expected to supply reclaimed water starting from second half of 2024, reaching CPC Corporation and Taoyuan industrial zones gradually. The first phase is expected to be completed in 2025, providing over 40,000 tons of reclaimed water daily. The whole project is expected to supply 112,000 tons of reclaimed water daily after completing, providing enterprises with multiple water resources to stabilize industrial water usage.
As it shoulders the responsibility of reclaimed water resources in northern Taiwan, Bao Ding Reclaimed Water plans to introduce international reclaimed water and smart water technologies. Radium also plans to create an "ESG Park" by utilizing a 16-hectare site at the North District Water Resources Center and the Reclaimed Water Plant. The plan includes preserving native trees and pond ecology with low-impact development, scheming wetland waters, micro-hydroponic farms and ecological floating island parks, as well as smart green buildings with international conference center and solar system. The design aims to balance local culture and economic development, creating an interactive environment that is friendly to the public and water resources.
