Radium (2547 TW)
Radium (2547 TW) Selected as Preferred Applicant for the Kaohsiung MRT R17 World Games Station -Plot A5 Urban Renewal Project
Leveraging Half a Century of Development Expertise to Co-Create a New Sustainable Urban Core for Kaohsiung with International Partners
Radium Group (2547 TW), a leading Taiwanese developer with nearly 50 years of experience in urban construction and infrastructure, has been selected as the preferred applicant for the public urban renewal project surrounding Plot A5 of the Kaohsiung MRT R17 World Games Station. This project represents not only a major urban renewal milestone driven by Kaohsiung’s response to the growth of high-tech industries, but also a concrete commitment by Radium to advancing sustainable urban development, working alongside Taiwan and Kaohsiung to strengthen their competitiveness on the global stage.
Radium has consistently invested in large-scale public infrastructure and mixed-use developments over the years. The Group previously served as planner, developer, and investor of the Taipei Bus Station BOT project, accumulating comprehensive experience in TOD integration, mixed-use development, and international-grade operational management. In recent years, Radium has expanded from northern Taiwan to central and southern Taiwan, such as actively advanced multiple TOD projects along the Taichung Metro corridor, steadily executing urban renewal initiatives and rail-integrated developments. These undertakings have established a solid experiential and technical foundation for the Kaohsiung R17 project. Among them, the Taichung Metro Wenxin Chongde Station development commenced construction in June 2025 and is scheduled to obtain its occupancy permit in the second half of 2028. This project exemplifies Radium’s capability in integrating existing structural systems with comprehensive urban functionality enhancement, demonstrating hands-on expertise in inner-city regeneration and the revitalization of transportation nodes. The Nantun Station project is currently in the stage of contracting out the construction partners, while the Wenxin Yinhua Station project is about to enter the urban design review process. From construction control and structural planning to urban planning coordination and design review advancement, these three Taichung projects collectively establish a fully integrated rail development execution framework. Together, they showcase Radium’s professional competence in delivering large-scale TOD developments and comprehensive urban development initiatives.
For the Kaohsiung MRT R17 urban renewal initiative, Radium has assembled a world-class international team, collaborating with the London Design Gold Award-winning C.T.J. Architects & Associates, the internationally renowned Kengo Kuma & Associates, and global real estate advisory and property management leader Colliers. Together, they aim to establish a benchmark for integrated residential and office development in Kaohsiung, one that reflects global perspectives and responds directly to evolving international industrial demands.
Strategically located at the core of Kaohsiung’s Semiconductor S-Corridor, the project embodies the vision of the “Greater Southern New Silicon Valley.” The overall master plan focuses on the long-term growth trajectory of the semiconductor and high-technology industries, while balancing corporate operational needs with talent-centric living requirements. The development will comprise a 21-story office tower, an 18-story corporate residential building, a three-story Q-Square Mall, and underground parking facilities. An elevated pedestrian network will seamlessly connect the R17 MRT station, all buildings, and public plazas, creating a people-oriented, green, and highly livable urban environment. Architecturally, the design integrates the natural rock textures of half screen mountain with semiconductor chip motifs, symbolizing a harmonious balance between nature and technology, stability and innovation.
The project fully incorporates ESG principles. Solar power generation systems will be installed to support underground parking facilities and EV charging, delivering tangible carbon-reduction benefits. The development is expected to obtain five major domestic building certifications, including Smart Building, Seismic-Resistant Building, Grade-One Energy Efficiency, Low-Carbon Building, and Green Building certifications. The office tower is designed to meet international Grade-A office standards and will pursue four leading global certifications: LEED, WELL, SmartScore, and WiredScore, positioning the project as a flagship smart, low-carbon, and high-tech semiconductor-oriented business park in Southern Taiwan.
In response to the semiconductor industry’s stringent requirements for operational security and efficiency, the office facilities will feature high-performance data transmission infrastructure and intelligent building management systems, providing a stable and reliable operating environment aligned with international ESG and information security standards. Radium has also proposed concrete measures to support enterprises to access integrated office, residential, and lifestyle facilities while backing the upgrading development of industries in Kaohsiung. The Q-Square Mall will be responsible for commercial leasing and operations, introducing comprehensive lifestyle amenities that will significantly enhance both residential quality and employment attractiveness in the district.
Radium emphasizes that urban renewal is not merely a construction endeavor, but a responsibility to the future trajectory of the city. This project embodies Radium’s long-term commitment to Kaohsiung and reflects its responsibility to the next generation of urban living. Looking ahead, Radium will continue to work closely with the Kaohsiung City Government and international professional teams to transform the area surrounding Kaohsiung MRT R17 World Games Station into a new urban core, one that seamlessly integrates industry, lifestyle, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
