Radium (2547TW) and CTCI Corp. have been awarded the Reclaimed Water BTO Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan

In response to trends of ESG and net-zero carbon emission, Radium (2547 TW) has made further step in its circular economy business. Radium together with its 100% subsidiary Rih Ding Circular Economy Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., entered into a strategic alliance with CTCI Corporation and its subsidiary ECOVE Environment Services Corporation.  The "Radium & CTCI Strategic Alliance" participating in the public bidding for “Reclaimed Water BTO (build, transfer, operate) Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan,” was selected as the best applicant.

Along with increasing demands of diversified water resources in Taiwan, reclaimed water has become an important environmentally friendly circulating water source. The Taoyuan City Government therefore planned a reclaimed water system in 2016 proposing a priority plan to recycle and reuse the managed effluent water from the Taoyuan North District Waste Water Treatment Plant to provide enterprises in the Guanyin Industrial Park. It is estimated 40,000 metric tons (CMD) of reclaimed water per day can be provided after completion of the first phase. The purpose is to improve the flexibility of water resources in Taoyuan area, stabilize industrial water usage, so as to increase employment opportunities and economic development in Taoyuan.

The base of project is located on the north side of the Taoyuan North District Water Recycling Center, at the Nanqing Section of Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, with an area of about 2.5 hectares. The permit period forecasted to be 18 years, including construction period of 3 years and operation period of 15 years. The scope of the project covering the reclaimed water treatment plant and the pipeline system transmitting reclaimed water to Guanyin Industrial Park and Taoyuan Refinery Plant, etc.

Radium with more than 40 years of experience in public construction planning, has supported its subsidiary Rih Ding Water to build the Taoyuan north district water recycling system recognized with superior BOT performance. Coupled with international energy experience possessed by CTCI Corp., both groups commit to support Taoyuan reclaimed water BTO project. The alliance plans to establish a project chartered corporation, with Radium group responsible for decision-making and integration, and CTCI group responsible for engineering and operation management.

The Taoyuan BTO reclaimed water system is planned to be integrated with Taoyuan sewerage recycling system managed by Rih Ding Water. It’s schemed to equip with patented bio-net membrane (BioNET) combining with membrane biological reaction (MBR) filtration for sewage pretreatment. By adopting technologies of selected filtering cloth, ultrafiltration membrane (UF) backwash water, reverse osmosis membrane (RO) with two-stage protection design, AI intelligent and early warning system, the system is prospected to ensure high quality of reclaimed water, with energy-saving and carbon-reduction benefits.

Radium’s sustainability plan starting from the duo-diamond green building community “Radium Perfect Life,” then invested further into circular economy businesses, such as sewage treatment, solar energy and waste-to-energy. Currently the overall connecting rate of sewage treatment system reached 27% in great Taoyuan, of which 70% is built by subsidiary Rih Ding Water with performance recognized to win 2021 " Golden Thumb Award."  As for the duo-diamond green community “Radium Perfect Life,”it contains over 25,000 pings of green spaces, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3,001 metric tons per year, equivalent to 7.8 folds of annual carbon absorption capacity in Daan Forest Parks. Subsidiary Rih Zuan Green Energy installs solar panels in Qishan, Kaohsiung able to generate 3 million kWh per year. The solar electricity is enough to supply around 1,546 residents in the great Kaohsiung per year.  As for the BOT project of Zhangbin Industrial Park Resource Processing Center managed by subsidiary Jing Ding Green Energy, the preliminary EIA review was passed at the beginning of 2022. The project will be managed to recycle industrial waste into solid renewable fuel for use of cement and steel industries to reach circular economy purpose.

Radium plans further to invest into sustainability related fields, including green building constructions, water resources management, waste-to-energy projects, carbon management and carbon emission investigation plans, hoping to reach eventually target of carbon neutral in Radium group.
