Radium Breaks Ground on Taichung Metro Nantun Station (G11) Development

Connecting G6, G11 and G8a to Shape Taichung's Three-Line Metro Era

Building Smart Green TOD Communities for a World-Class City

As Taichung's metro network continues to expand and major infrastructure projects accelerate, Taiwan's second-largest city is rapidly evolving into a new generation of rail-oriented urban development.

Radium (TWSE: 2547), in partnership with the Taichung City Government, today (Aug.7th) officially celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Taichung Metro Green Line Nantun Station (G11) Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Project, marking another significant milestone in Taichung's sustainable urban transformation.

The ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of Taichung City Huang Chung-tien, Radium Group Chairman Lin Rong-shian, Ji Shun Life Chairman Liu Yao-kai, and distinguished guests from government, industry, and academia. Together they performed the traditional groundbreaking ritual, symbolizing the commencement of one of Taichung's most important TOD developments and reaffirming Radium's long-term commitment to investing in the city's future.

A Landmark of Smart Green Development at the Heart of Taichung

The project occupies approximately 2,549 square meters (771 pings) at the intersection of Wenxin Road Section 1 and Wuquan West Road Section 2, directly connected to Nantun Station (G11) on the Taichung Metro Green Line.

The development will comprise a 27-story above-ground and five-level underground mixed-use smart green building, with a total gross floor area of approximately 36,600 square meters (11,070 pings). It will provide 322 residential units, 2 retail spaces and 6 offices when completed.

Designed under the concept of "The Green Lung of Nantun – Where Nature and Urban Living Converge," the project integrates smart technologies, green architecture, healthy living concepts, and low-carbon design principles to create a next-generation urban landmark offering seamless mobility, premium residential quality, and long-term sustainability.

From Urban Developer to Sustainable City Operator

Radium is redefining its role in city development through Transit-Oriented Development. Around the world, urban competitiveness is shifting beyond traditional real estate development toward the creation of integrated urban ecosystems. As cities confront climate change, demographic aging, rapid AI innovation, energy transition, and net-zero commitments, future urban development is measured by how effectively transportation, housing, commerce, public services, industry, and nature are connected into a resilient, low-carbon, and highly efficient urban system.

Taichung has emerged as one of Taiwan's fastest-growing metropolitan areas. Its population has officially surpassed 2.86 million, supported by major investments including the Central Taiwan Science Park, Shui-Nan Economic and Trade Park, the Phase 7 CBD, Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center, and the expansion of Taichung International Airport.

Along with that, passenger ridership on the Taichung Metro Green Line has continued to grow steadily since operations began. During the first half of 2026, cumulative ridership reached approximately 9.04 million passengers, representing an 8.6% increase over the same period in 2025.

With the Green Line operating successfully, the Blue Line under construction, and the Orange Line moving through planning, Taichung is entering its Three-Line Metro Era, laying the foundation for the city's next stage of economic and urban growth.

Radium Chairman Lin Rong-shian states that, TOD is a long-term investment in urban competitiveness. “The buildings of the future should not merely provide residential space. They should seamlessly connect transportation, business, industry, green infrastructure, and lifestyle services to create complete urban ecosystems."

Guided by its vision of becoming a green enterprise determined to uphold sustainability, Radium has expanded beyond residential development into urban renewal, metro-linked developments, smart buildings, circular water resources, healthy living solutions, and AI-driven digital technologies. The company is steadily transforming from a traditional property developer into an integrated sustainable city operator.

Three Metro Developments Creating Taichung's Premier TOD Corridor

Following the successful launch of the Wenxin Chongde Station (G6) TOD project, Radium continues expanding its metro development strategy through the Nantun Station (G11) project while also advancing plans for Wenxin Yinghua Station (G8a).

Together, the three developments establish a strategic TOD network linking the major urban districts of Beitun, Xitun, and Nantun, creating one of Taichung's most promising metro living corridors.

Each station has been strategically positioned to leverage its distinctive urban strengths: G11 Nantun Station as a premier residential destination embracing green living and premium lifestyles; G6 Wenxin Chongde Station as a dynamic commercial and business hub benefiting from high pedestrian volumes; and G8a Wenxin Yinghua Station as a future growth corridor driven by continued population expansion and emerging business opportunities.

Collectively, these three developments integrate housing, commerce, transportation, public amenities, and green spaces into a comprehensive Greater Taichung TOD economic ecosystem, reflecting Radium's strategic evolution from "building properties" to "building cities."

Smart × Sustainable × Healthy

Creating a New Benchmark for Next-Generation Green Buildings

The G11 development fully incorporates four core design philosophies: smart technologies, digital innovation, healthy living, and low-carbon sustainability.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) will be implemented throughout planning, construction, and operations to optimize lifecycle management and operational efficiency.

The project will pursue multiple certifications, including Green Building, Smart Building, Low Embodied Carbon Building, and Seismic Resilience certifications.

Through energy-efficient systems, intelligent energy management, extensive green landscaping, and low-carbon construction materials, the development aims to significantly reduce lifecycle carbon emissions while supporting Taiwan's 2050 Net-Zero Emissions strategy.

Partnering with Taichung to Build a World-Class Sustainable City

As Taichung's Green, Blue, and Orange metro lines gradually become fully integrated, the city will evolve from isolated station-area developments into a networked metropolitan economy, where TOD extends beyond individual buildings and neighborhoods to become a comprehensive framework for urban governance and sustainable living.

Lin Rong-shian concluded that, "The G6, G11, and G8a developments represent three new engines powering Taichung's future. Together with the Taichung City Government, Radium is committed to creating a globally competitive city that combines economic resilience, environmental sustainability, smart governance, and shared prosperity."
