Radium (2547TW) plans to expand circular economy business

-Subsidiary Rih Ding Water plans to raise capital by NT$ 73 million

 

Listed company Radium (2547 TW) is expanding its circular economy business. After participating in the capital raise of NT$592 million in Subsidiary Rih Ding Water Co., Ltd. last year, it continues to invest into reclaimed water business. Bao Ding Reclaimed Water, a 70%-owned subsidiary of the Group, plans to issue 7,300 thousand new shares at a par value of NT$10 per share, with a total capital raise of NT$73 million. Radium Group will participate in the subscription with a 70% shareholding ratio and subscription amount of NT$51 million. The paid-in capital of Bao Ding Reclaimed Water will reach NT$945 million after the capital increase completed, with paid-in shares to reach 94.5 million shares.

 

In response to global ESG trend, the application of reclaimed water becomes a priority for governments and enterprises. Bao Ding Reclaimed Water Co., Ltd. is building the Taoyuan reclaimed water BTO project expecting to start supplying reclaimed water from third quarter of 2024. The first phase will supply 10,000 tons of reclaimed water daily prioritized to China Petroleum Taoyuan Refinery and Guanyin Industrial Zone. Currently 6,220 meters of pipelines have been constructed to China Petroleum Taoyuan refining section, with a completion rate of 87%, and 13,911 meters of pipelines built to Guanyin Industrial area, with a completion rate of 72%. It is estimated that more than 40,000 metric tons of reclaimed water will be provided daily to the Taoyuan Enterprises upon project completion in 2025.

 

Radium Group develops circular economy business of diversified water resources mainly. With subsidiary Rih-Ding Water Enterprise Co., Ltd. managing the sewage piping and treatment BOT system in Taoyuan, the Group had invested into the BOT with more than NT$12.5 billion. It is estimated that penetration rate of public sewer in Taoyuan had reached 24.7% in 2023, with the households connected by Rid-Ding Water reaching over 140,000, contributing 15.8% of Taoyuan's connection rate and accounting for 64% of Taoyuan's public sewer connection rate.

 

Rih-Ding Water expects to launch the third phase of Taoyuan water resource center expansion in 2024. The overall construction period will be around two years, building facilities capable to treat 50,000 tons of sewage. It will adopt a multi-stage biological treatment process, coupled with intelligent control to optimize sewage treatment, to strengthen water quality management with advanced energy-saving and carbon-reducing technologies so as to provide a stable and reliable water source for Bao-Ding reclaimed water plant. An anaerobic digestion tank will also be added for sludge recycling, planning to utilize sludge biogas to generate electricity and achieve sludge reduction simultaneously.

 

 

Rih-Ding Water will work with Bao-Ding Reclaimed Water to build the AI smart cloud management platform to monitor water quality and flow from the very beginning of water resources. It’s planned to set up more pre-warning equipment with smart water systems and industrial 4.0 automatic water distribution plans, combining with daily inspections and real-time CCTV monitoring. it is expected to reduce system processing power consumption by about 10%. Radium plans to build an ESG green energy park in Taoyuan, equipped with solar modules, hydropower system, smart greenhouses and hydroponic farms.
